2010.03.04 Week 2 Blog 3 - What "Podcasting" is about?

Podcasting（播客 or 泡播 in Chinese）derived from “iPod” , ”broadcast” and “webcasting”.

Podcasting is a technology to polish or share voice frequency of broadcasts or visual videos and programs works through Internet, for instance, iTunes. This technology not only use in broadcast and TV, but also use in Internet. Now Podcasting has varieties types to allow users download directly in their player. For instance, music, photo, TV programs or even games. Moreover, Podcasting have no time limit and no deadline, audiences could listen or watch at any time and any place. It also can easy pause, rebroadcast or fast moving on.

Podcasting has four basic functions:

1. Feed of podcast RSS (Now is RSS 2.0)

2. Download video or music files automatically or in order

3. Provide Podcasting player, such as iTunes
4. Provide the transmission way of BitTorrent
